Position Summary
Manages the promotion of awareness and encourages adoption of health policies related to reducing opioid prescription practices among clinicians in Mecklenburg County North Carolina.
This position, under minimal supervision, is responsible for promoting CDC Prescribing Guidelines and related change initiatives that address substance use disorders in Mecklenburg County.
This is a grant-funded position, funded by the CDC “Overdose Data to Action: Local” federal grant.
This position is contingent upon funding.
The grant performance period is September 1, 2023-August 31, 2028.
Essential Functions
• Facilitate outreach in relation to Mecklenburg County physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners and other prescribers to raise awareness and encourage adoption of CDC prescribing guidelines.
• Recommend evidence-based initiatives that can improve health at the population level.
• Implement proper evaluation methodologies.
• Establish specific plans and deliverables related to health priorities with an emphasis on reducing health disparities and increase community engagement.
• Utilize data to support the development of innovative policies, programs and services.
• Assess the field to identify emerging trends and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of two of experience in public health, health education, policy/planning, or related field.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Policy, or related behavioral science.

Licenses and Certifications
• Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
• Ability to obtain and maintain a County Operator's Permit (COP).
