About the Role:
Southwood Realty Company is seeking a licensed attorney to become a part of our team and work under the General Counsel.
The attorney will assist this multi-family apartment and real estate firm in providing daily legal guidance to staff, analyzing/drafting contracts, working with lenders, etc.
This position will work full-time on site at our Corporate Office in Gastonia, NC.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and draft contracts on behalf of Southwood Realty Company and its affiliates/subsidiaries
Provide legal advice on business and legal transactions
Negotiate settlements for legal disputes
Report and manage insurance claims
Provide legal advice on how to best comply with all legal standards and regulations
Provide daily legal guidance to property staff
Perform administrative and management functions
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and Juris Doctor Degree are required
License to practice law in at least one state is required (NC, SC, GA, TN, or VA is preferred)
Previous experience in the practice of law is preferred
Experience with landlord/tenant law and issues is preferred
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to build rapport with staff
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
