Overview:
This Director & Assistant General Counsel, Managed Care, Value Based Care, CIN and Malpractice role is primarily responsible for providing legal advice for Novant Health’s commercial managed care contracting, value-based care arrangements and clinically integrated networks.
The role also will provide legal supervisory support, as needed, for management of outside counsel in medical malpractice claims.
The ideal candidate has meaningful experience in negotiating managed care contracts, understanding of both physician and hospital reimbursement arrangements and familiarity with risk sharing arrangements in value based care arrangements.
Qualifications:
Education: 4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree, required.
Undergraduate Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university, required.
Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school, required.
Experience: 7+ Years Experience in the Practice of Law, required.
Previous experience in law or a healthcare setting, preferred.
License/certifications: Admission to the bar of at least one state or the District of Columbia, required.
Admission to the bar of South Carolina, preferred.
Additional skills required:
7-8+ years experience in the practice of law.
Regulatory healthcare experience.
Experience with the Anti-Kickback Statue (AKS), the Stark Law, and other regulations.
Healthcare transactional experience (physician acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, etc.
)
Foundational knowledge of healthcare operations.
Skills for problem solving, teamwork, and developing innovative solutions.
Excellent communication skills required.
Ability to handle unusual, demanding and unrelated tasks and strong organizational skills.

· Advises on specific health care issues such as HIPAA Privacy Rule, the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback statute, government and confidentiality issues.
· Reviews and prepares agreements and contracts
· Assists in the development of new policies, procedures and forms for the organization.
· Maintains professional competency, according to department policies, procedures, and protocols.
