Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree or higher preferred);
North Carolina teacher certification in subject area;
At least (1) year of teaching experience with record of improving student achievement;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences (including colleagues, students and families).
Demonstrated professional behavior, including discretion, judgment and integrity.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging lessons to execute the knowledge and love of art, drawing and painting;
Plan and coordinate art shows and exhibits;
Collaborate with teachers to integrate art education into planned academic instruction;
Develop and deliver curriculum aligned to the NC course of study/standards;
Develop and document syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and rubrics aligned to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP);
Monitor student progress through frequent formal and informal student evaluations;
Communicate weekly with families and other key stakeholders;
Provide students with frequent and accurate academic feedback;
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of current instructional practices in art education, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
Ability to organize and coordinate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and families.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Preferred:
Teaching experience within the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme;
Ability to thrive in an innovative school environment;
Knowledge and background related to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS).
