** RARE c. 1850 FORESTVILLE CT 8 DAY OGEE CLOCK ** - $275 (Monroe)

Not the typical 30 hour Ogee, this slightly taller weight driven 8 day clock is not often found and not at this price.
The clean brass strap movement (rolled brass was still too expensive then) is a decorative “acorn” or “lyre” type; again not the typical stamped squared off type.
The company first made cases and then the complete clocks in Bristol CT from 1831 – 1855.
The clock runs perfectly and only strikes the hour on a wire gong.
The case is in excellent shape and the reverse painting of a castle is about 96% complete.
There is very minor flaking on the wooden painted face.
The original weights and pendulum bob are included, but the key is probably a replacement.
Dimensions are : 16 ½ inches wide x 4 ½ inches deep x 29 inches tall.
